The Magic of Positive Thinking

Yes, there is magic in positive thinking! In aviation, the word attitude means the angle at which the plane meets the wind, whether the wings are level with the horizon, and whether it is climbing or descending. The pilot who fails to take responsibility for the attitude of his aircraft is in serious trouble. And likewise, any person who has not taken charge of his or her own beliefs and attitudes runs a similar risk. The key to cultivating and maintaining a positive mental attitude is to take control of your thinking and avoid negative minded people. It’s a challenging task to develop a calm, focused mind, but well worth the effort. Every setback and failure you experience also comes with a great opportunity. When one door closes, a window of possibility...

Pay It Forward

On December 5, 2013 I posted a small post on my Facebook page that goes like this… 2013 Creative Pay It Forward: The first five people to comment on this status will receive from me, sometime in the next calendar year, a gift -perhaps a book, or baked goods, or a candle, music, or a surprise! There will likely be no warning, and it will happen when the mood strikes me. The catch? Those five people must make the same offer in their Facebook status. Who’s in? I think this sounds fun and interesting. I soon started seeing other friends post something similar on their pages.  I thought wow what a great idea. Why limit it to five people? Why not open it to every one?  So I’m officially opening my Pay It Forward post to everyone who reads my blog. The same...

I WISH YOU ENOUGH

I found this on Facebook and started to cry because I’m so close to my mom and I don’t ever what to have a conversation like this with her. Enjoy! I WISH YOU ENOUGH. Recently, I overheard a mother and daughter in their last moments together at the airport as the daughter’s departure had been announced. Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the mother said: “I love you and I wish you enough.”The daughter replied, “Mom, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Mom.” They kissed and the daughter left. The mother walked over to the window where I sat. Standing there, I could see she wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on her privacy but she...

The Power of Positive Thoughts

I am going to ask you to something very strange right now. First of all, I want you to stop doing anything for about one minute. I want you to listen to your thoughts. Now tell me, what thoughts fill your head? Would you label them as positive or negative? Now let’s say you are walking down the street with these thoughts. Do you think anyone who would meet you would be able to tell you what’s on your mind? The answer to number one is up to you. But, the answer number two can be pretty general. Although people will not be able to tell you exactly what you think, they will more or less have an idea of how you are feeling. Here’s another question. When you enter a party filled with friends, do they all fall silent as if something terrible had happened?...

The Joys of Moving

The picture to the left is a greeting card from SendOutCards. that fit right what I’m been feeling. My family has been in the process of moving (not the actual moving yet) and it has really been CRAZY! You have the house search, try looking at a house with two little ones that want to run everywhere. The ups and downs of emotions when you actually find a place with the whole bidding process. This is the first time my husband and I have moved together into another place so it’s different for both of us to find that common ground and to communicate what we both need. Did I mention the children, my five year old doesn’t want to move and it’s expected since he has made his friends here. My three year doesn’t care either way. The paper...

Organize your addresses now before the Christmas rush

It’s not too early to organize your addresses for your Christmas cards. It’s the beginning of October and in no time at all it will be late November.  It’s going to take a little time contacting people that have moved during the last year. First send an email to the people that you know moved. If they don’t reply in a week or so give them a call. Set up a half an hour a week to call friends and family that has. Organize your contacts throughout the year so it doesn’t become a large job in November. You will thank me for reminding you come November and all your addresses are updated. You’ll be ready to send those Christmas cards on time. If you use Sendoutcards, you can upload your new contacts very easily. If you’re interested in me showing you how to use...
