Lately, I’ve been reading a lot of books on marketing because my boss is coming out with her book in the summer of this year. As we’ve been preparing for her book launch, I’ve noticed in some of the books I’ve read talk about how to get your book on Oprah as the ultimate show to be on. When reading these books they refer to The Oprah Show as the place to promote your book other than New York Times, CNN or People magazine.

My question and I’m sure others are asking as well, “Who will be the next Oprah Winfrey?” The Oprah Show will no longer be airing after this year, there are no more shows being taped. Don’t get me wrong New York Times, CNN and People are great media outlets but they don’t match up to The Oprah Winfrey Show. A lot of viewers loved the way Oprah gets to the bottom of the stories and asked questions that we all wanted to ask. She loved helping the less fortunate and giving away cars and things that she loves. With my job to promote my bosses new book, this becomes a little bit of a challenge.

Yes, I know quite a few authors wanted their books on Oprah for years and never got a chance. Do you see that the target for the best is gone or do you think maybe the best may come in another form other than a talk show? Could it be in a form of a popular virtual book tour website? Just something I have been pondering as I read these marketing books. The dream that your book would be able to make it on the Oprah Winfrey Show is not there anymore. Even though the chance was slim the dream was there. What shows are you now dreaming that your book will be promoted on?

Since I got your attention, I want to know what you want me to write about or teach. My specialities are emarketing, book promotion via social media, sending cards, basic skills of social media. I have a long history of web design and non-profit management. I want to hear from you on what you would like for me to write or teach about.
